Last Friday, September 15. 2023, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) unveiled the hats for the draw for the African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
With 24 teams having qualified for the competition, we now know the pools that will be used for the draw on October 12 2023 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. As expected, Pot 1 contains the best African teams in the latest FIFA Ranking: Morocco, semi-finalists at the last World Cup, Senegal, winners of the last edition of the CAN, Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Mali and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The groups will be drawn according to Article 12 of the Regulations, based on the latest official FIFA Ranking prior to the Drawing and taking account of the results of the three previous editions of the tournament. Each of the six CAN groups will be made up of 4 teams from a different group.
