The Ministry of Trade is organising a promotional sale in Yaoundé. The aim is to tackle the rising prices of school equipment.
On August 21 this year, the esplanade of the Boulevard du 20 mai in Yaounde will be the scene of a “special operation” for the promotional sale of school equipment (backpacks, notebooks, rulers, pens, etc.) and other consumer goods, entitled “Rentrée commerciale 2023”. The operation will end on September 3, on the eve of the start of the new school year in Cameroon on 4 September 2023.
The aim of this initiative set up by the ministry of Trade to help parents of at the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Launched a few years ago the operation allows people to buy school supplies and consumer goods at reduced prices, against the backdrop of widespread inflation, the effects of which are increasingly being felt in households’ shopping baskets. The ministry claims that this promotion is part of the implementation of the government’s policy to combat the high cost of living.
