The Catholic priest, has made an urgent appeal in a letter to bretherns to register massively for next year’s multiparty elections.

Like politicians, men of God are urging Cameroonians to be voters. The Catholic Bishop of Buea, his Lordship Michael Bibi, has issued an open letter on the Christian responsibility to participate in the public life of the country.

He said: “I’m writing to you today to urge all those of voting age to take the time to register so that they can vote in the next elections in 2025. It is true that there is a high level of voter apathy in our country, Cameroon. But it is also true that the future and destiny of a country is the collective responsibility of its people. This is particularly true for us Christians, who have not only a civic responsibility but also a moral obligation to participate in the life of the State, which includes exercising the right and duty to vote,” wrote his Lordship Michael Bibi.

“For this reason, I call on you, my fellow citizens and bretherns, to understand that the choice of those who will lead us in the coming elections is a crucial means of ensuring true justice and peace. At the same time, I ask the men and women among us who have been called by God’s unique grace to be among those who facilitate the election process to acknowledge, with the fear of God, the even greater responsibility that falls to this country. They are duty-bound to protect the fairness and transparency of the entire electoral process, while respecting the collective will of those who voted,” he added.
