The Dastudy initiative was presented by the Artificial Intelligence of Cameroon with the support of the Unesco National Commission.
According to its creator, David Kenfack (an artificial intelligence (AI) researcher at the Ministry of Scientific research), this AI is designed to facilitate access to quality knowledge. This is a real step forward for the tool, which acts as a transmission belt for audio and text and for sharing educational content. All of this is based on a database of almost 20,000 documents divided into more than 500 categories.
They created the IA app taking into consideration the barriers faced by the African population regarding the artificial intelligence generated in Western countries, to position their platform as the ideal solution.
“We want to tell organisations and companies today not to doubt local skills because we are ready. When it comes to Artificial Intelligence, we have local talent, whatever the target sector or the need to be solved… young Cameroonians are ready to meet them,’ explains Boris Landry Kouekam, President of Cameroon Artificial Intelligence.
The 100% Cameroonian provides African documentation to facilitate research and provide contextual assistance to users. According to its creators, Dastudy offers a range of services for businesses, Dastudy Business. It helps with decision making and application management. But it also offers customer support.
This initiative has the merit of having receiving the AyadaLab African prize organised by the French Institute of Cameroon and the Goethe Institute. It also won the technological innovation prize awarded by the Ministry of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation.
