The administrative authority calls on divisional officers, mayors and law enforcement agencies to ensure that this measure is respected.

In order to ensure security, peace and public order in his area of responsibility, the Senior Divisional Officer of the Manyu Division is restricting certain night-time activities. He has ordered the closure of bars, snack bars and nightclubs from 8pm every day until further notice. After closing at 8 p.m., these places of sale, consumption of drinks, revelry and sometimes various forms of trafficking are not allowed to reopen until 6 a.m. the following day.

The Senior divisional officer’s decision applies to the four sub-divisions and councils under his jurisdiction. Yves Bertrand Awounfack Alienou is therefore calling on the divisional officers and mayors of Akwaya, Eyumodjock, Mamfé and Tinto, as well as the forces of law and order, to enforce this decision, which comes at a time of particular security.

The South West region has been facing a security threat from separatists since 2016. Non-state armed groups carry out criminal and terrorist activities against civilians in certain localities of the region. 

The administrative and security authorities are confronting these groups and taking the measures they deem necessary to protect people and property.

In the neighbouring North West Region, some of the attacks claimed by terrorists in Bamenda have targeted drinking establishments. As criminal activities often take place at night, the prefect of Mezam has banned motorbike taxis from his district between 6.30pm and 6am.
