The Yaounde Conference Center was transformed into a beacon of sporting glitz and glamour on February 27, 2026, as the nation gathered to celebrate the 2025 Cameroon Ballon d’Or.
The ceremony, which honored the standout performers of the previous football season, showcased the immense talent within both the MTN Elite One and the Guinness Super League. It was a night that balanced tradition with progress, reinforcing Cameroon’s commitment to elevating domestic football to a global standard.
The ceremony organized by the Cameroon Football Federation FECAFOOT under the leadership of its president Samuel Eto’o fils, took place under the watchful eyes of the First Lady Mrs Chantal Biya, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, other Ministers, states officials, influencers and football lovers who came to witness the yearly gala night.
The evening’s biggest winners were undoubtedly Fraîche Lys Tiwa and Serge Daura, who claimed the prestigious Ballon d’Or titles for the women’s and men’s categories, respectively. Tiwa, representing Lekié Football Filles, enjoyed a historic night as she also walked away with the Top Scorer award after a prolific 22-goal season. She got the award for the Golden Ball winner. Similarly, Serge Daura of Gazelle FA proved his dominance in the men’s game, securing a rare triple crown by winning the Ballon d’Or, the Top Scorer award with 15 goals which got him the name of MTN Elite revelation and Golden Boot winner. The gifts received included a brand new car and a check of several millions of FCFA.
Beyond individual accolades, the ceremony celebrated the tactical brilliance and collective efforts of the clubs. Lekié Football Filles dominated the women’s category, earning the Club of the Year title while their manager, Stéphane Ndzana Ngono, was named Best Coach. In the men’s division, Colombe du Dja et Lobo was honored as the Best Club, with Richard Towa receiving the Best Coach award. The defensive stalwarts were also recognized, with Ngah Chantal Calixte and Idrissou Nfor Finia taking home the Golden Gloves for their exceptional performances between the posts.
The event also highlighted the unsung heroes of the game and moments of pure inspiration. Ornella Molluh and Ulrich Mpeck were celebrated for providing the season’s most spectacular highlights with their Goals of the Season. The officiating crews were not left out, as Ntangti Innocentia and Mefire Abdou led the list of recognized referees. In a touching finale, David Pagou received the MTN Special Award for Determination and Courage, a testament to the resilience and spirit that defines Cameroonian football beyond the scoreline.
