South African authorities have captured a tiger that had caused panic earlier on Monday after being sighted east of the commercial capital Johannesburg.Officials said the tiger was recaptured in the Edenvale area and moved to a sanctuary while its owner was being located.
The young tiger had earlier on Monday been sighted roaming the parking lot of an office bloc in Edenvale in Gauteng province.
The sighting prompted officials to warn residents to keep their children and animals inside.
Residents said the animal caused panic as it moved from house to house.
The incident comes two weeks after another tiger escaped from a private farm enclosure south of Johannesburg on January 13.
The tigress was eventually found and euthanised for the safety of the surrounding community.
