Of the 25 players selected by Alioum Saidou for Chan 2023, the most represented local club is the legendary Garoua team.
Alioum Saidou has called up 25 players for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN). All as provided for in the competition play in the local championship.
Unlike the last CHAN played in Cameroon in 2021, all the players are from the first division. But as in 2021, this year again, the most represented club is Coton Sport of Garoua. The team saw five of its players selected. It is followed by Union Sportive de Douala with four players then Bamboutos de Mbouda and Eding Sport who each have three players in the den.
On the side of Canon de Yaoundé, Colombe sportive du Dja et Lobo, and Fauve Azur, two players have been selected. Other clubs like Fovu de Baham, Gazelle FA, Apejes de Mfou, and PWD de Bamenda each have one player.
The surprises are the absences for instance of the current top scorer of the MTN Elite 1, Eric Mahop of Canon de Yaoundé, and that of last season’s best hope, Patient Wassou of Coton Sport de Garoua.
