The president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), Maurice Kamto, made this announcement during a press conference organised last July 27.
The national president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Maurice Kamto, seems to be thirsty and hungry for the legislative and municipal elections of 2025, as provided for in the electoral calendar. He is determined to take part in the 2025 legislative, municipal, regional and presidential elections after boycotting that February 9 2020.
The leader of the CRM party does not intend to accept the postponement of the legislative or local elections in February 2025 in order to hold the presidential elections in October of the same year, as was the case in 2018. He believes that this postponement is undemocratic. But also, that the reasons given for it are not valid.
Firstly, as he underscored, these elections have been planned and known about for five years. According to him, those in power are not surprised. They should have started organising them since the end of those of 09 February 2020 and 09 October 2018, moreover he says, there is an interval of eight months between the presidential elections in October 2025 and the legislative and municipal elections in February 2025. During these eight months, the presidential elections can be organised after the first two rounds. And above all, in a country with a population of around 27 million and seven million registered voters, there is nothing to stop all three elections being held simultaneously. Nigeria, with a population of 220 million and 87 million registered voters, has just held its presidential, senatorial and legislative elections simultaneously.
