The Minister of Communication and government spokesman, René Emmanuel Sadi, described the circumstances of the massacre in a press release on November 7.

Twenty-five people were killed in an “unspeakably cruel attack” at around 3am on the night of Sunday 5 November 2023 to Monday 6 November 2023. 19 men, five women and an eight-year-old child were killed. Nine others were injured. The attackers first set fire to several houses before firing at close range at people trying to escape the fury of the flames. This barbaric act was the work of a ‘secessionist terrorist group called the Manyu Unity Warriors, affiliated to the nebulous Ambazonian Defence Forces’, the minister reported.

The Republic’s government “strongly condemns this cowardly and despicable attack on innocent people by a group of terrorists whose sole aim is to sow terror and devastation among families”. René Emmanuel Sadi said an investigation had been launched. The “defence and security forces are working hard to find the perpetrators of this macabre expedition and bring them to justice”. In the same message, the government urged the population to remain vigilant and courageous.
