Cameroon : Government Presents 10 Bills To Parliament

Last November 13, the National Assembly received 10 bills to be examined during the budget session that opened the day before.

 

The day after the opening plenary session of the November parliamentary session, the Conference of Presidents of the National Assembly received 10 bills for consideration. The various texts cover a wide range of areas concerning the life of the nation and cooperation with friendly countries.

The texts were received during a meeting of the Conference of Presidents chaired by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril. MPs will examine the various draft laws as part of their work.

The most important of these is the long-awaited bill No. 2064/PJL/AN on local taxation, announced by the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze. The nine other bills are

Bill 2065/PJL/AN, the budget law of the Republic of Cameroon for 2023;

Bill 2068/PJL/AN to regulate the practice and organisation of traditional medicine in Cameroon;

Bill No. 2062/PJL/AN on the Protection of Personal Data in Cameroon;

Draft Law No. 2069/PJL/AN on civil protection in Cameroon;

Bill No. 2063/PJL/AN on the organisation of the civil status registration system in Cameroon;

Bill No. 2066/PJL/AN authorising the President of the Republic to ratify the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances, adopted in Beijing (China) on 24 June 2012;

Bill No. 2067/PJL/AN authorising the President of the Republic to ratify the Convention of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to Combat International Terrorism, signed in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) on 1 July 1999;

Bill No. 2070/PJL/AN, authorising the President of the Republic to ratify the Convention establishing the International Organisation for Marine Aids to Navigation, signed in Malaysia on 28 February 2020;

Bill No. 2071/PJL/AN authorising the President of the Republic to accede to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications, adopted in Geneva on 20 May 2015.
