The drug is said to be responsible for the loss of two lives in the North West region headquarter.
The presence of a dangerous pharmaceutical product known as JIGSIMUR has been highlighted in an official release signed by the Public Health North West regional Delegate, Dr Kingsley Che Soh. This followed the death of two people who showed signs of having taken the said product.
According to the Delegate, the product does not have a marketing authorisation in Cameroon. He says that many patients admitted to health facilities after the use of this product have multiple organ dysfunctions. The product is claimed to treat a number of diseases, including cancer.
The regional delegate is urging the population to stop using the JIGSIMUR product. He is also asking people to wait for the results of tests being carried out by the Ministry of Health to confirm or disprove whether the product is dangerous. In the document, the doctor also reminds the public that street medicines are not recommended.
