The Buea Municipal Stadium hosted the grand final of the “Na We We” Sports Tournament for the Buea Centre Parliamentary Constituency.

The tournament, which was launched on July 28, 2024 by the Honourable Malomba Esembe, to promote social cohesion and coexistence by bringing together young people and community members from different backgrounds to foster a sense of community, mutual respect and nationhood; encourage political engagement by using the tournament as a platform to sensitise young people to their civic rights and responsibilities and the importance of their participation in the democratic process; and develop talent by providing young people with an opportunity to play football in a fun and friendly environment. And to develop talent by giving young footballers and athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills and attract the attention of professional scouts.

The final pitted the Longstreet team against the Buea taxi drivers. In a match full of twists and turns, the taxi drivers’ team came back twice before scoring a third goal to secure victory with a final score of 3-2.

The competition for the best fan club award was particularly fierce between the Muea and Tole clubs. After a difficult judging process, the two clubs were awarded the same prize.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Jacques Woulsou, Inspector General in the Office of the Governor of the South West Region, personal representative of Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, the tournament’s patron.

Numerous prizes and awards were presented at the end of the match to mark the success of the tournament.
