Theophilé Job Kwabnang and Maurice Nzeundie are the regional presidents of the Social Democratic Front in the Littoral and West region, respectively.
Maurice Nzeundie, a 52-year-old financial expert and businessman, campaigned as the new face of the SDF in the West region. A member of the party since 1997, he has built up his profile as an activist over the years. Between 2013 and 2020, for example, he held the posts of local councilor.
During the same period, the current regional councillor was general reporter for Bafoussam 2 council and the Bafoussam city council. As promised in his declaration of faith, Maurice Nzeundie is fulfilling his commitment to “build a conquering and victorious SDF”, one of the commitments for which he was elected 149 votes to 84.
In the Littoral, Job Théophile Kwapnang will take over from Jean Michel Nintcheu, who was expelled from the party a few months ago along with some thirty other members of the party. The new regional chairman won the election with 74 votes to Benidle’s 73. In the run-up to the election, the regional chairman promised to “revitalise the SDF” in the “Littoral, Moungo, Sanaga-Maritime and Wouri” regions. The man, who claims to have 31 years’ experience as an SDF activist, is a former mayor of Douala 3. He will be assisted by Mathurin Byoll, who was elected vice-chairman.In addition to the regional chairpersons and their deputies, other positions of responsibility within the various regional offices were also renewed. These offices have been given the task of ensuring compliance with party texts and mobilising militants in the run-up to the elections scheduled for 2025. But before these elections, the SDF, which lost its founding president Ni John Fru Ndi on 12 June, will hold its elective congress on October27, 28 and 29. Ahead of this congress, the party has held conferences to renew its organs in all regions, starting with the West and the Littoral.
