The Ambazonia Governing Council claims responsibility for the attack on workers at the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC),on February 11th 2023.
“Our fighters attacked the CDC in Tiko, killing five civilians and injuring dozens more. This will send a message to the Republic of Cameroon which likes to bribe Chris Anu and Sako Ikome (other separatist leaders) to allow CDC to operate. This will serve as a lesson,” commented Capo Daniel, one of the lieutenants of separatist leader Ayaba Cho.
Capo Daniel, who is reportedly in Hong Kong, is calling on his supporters to launch new attacks on the CDC, which he accuses of looting the fictitious republic of Ambazonia that the separatists want to create by uniting the English-speaking regions of the North West and South West.
Prior to this outing by the secessionist leaders, the Director General of the CDC announced in a statement on Saturday 11 February that five workers of his structure were killed by unidentified gunmen. According to DG Franklyn Ngoni Njie, the attack took place on Friday 10 February at around 3:30 pm, not far from the Tiko-Douala road, when armed men stormed a bus carrying banana plantation workers who were returning from their work. Four men and one woman were killed instantly while 40 other workers were injured.
In the meantime, the CDC GM has called on the entire work force of the corporation to stay calm, focused and vigilant as they carry on with the daily duties. CDC officials did not make mention names of the victims, a source revealed the names of the deceased victims which includes ; Victor Ndjanji, Ebude Elizabeth, Ngoe Sakwe, Away Pascal and a certain Ambo.
This is not the first time that CDC workers have been attacked in the South West region. Since the birth of the separatist groups in 2017, CDC employees have been attacked. Some were mutilated and others killed to prevent the company from continuing to operate in the area.
