Cameroon will aim for nothing less than victory when they host Eswatini in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday, head coach Marc Brys said Wednesday evening.

“This is a crucial match and we need to win. We are ready. We have good players who play in some of the biggest clubs in the world,” the Belgian told a pre-match press conference in Yaounde, the Cameroonian capital.

“We want to put up a great show, we are positive, we are enthusiastic because we are playing at home. We want to give Cameroon a beautiful victory,” added midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa.

Cape Verde currently leads Group D by one point ahead of Cameroon, with the two teams scheduled to meet Tuesday in Praia, the Cape Verdean capital.

Before that decisive encounter, the Indomitable Lions must overcome Eswatini at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium to remain in contention.

Cameroon has qualified for eight World Cups – the most of any African nation – but may need maximum points from both fixtures to extend that record.
