The barrister was honoured during the twentieth anniversary of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union.
Barrister Akere Muna has been honoured in Ghana for his commitment to fighting corruption in his country. He shared the news with his compatriots via his professional social media accounts,“Grateful to be recognized with the Pan African Roll of Honor during the Twentieth Anniversary celebration of the ECONOMIC SOCIAL & CULTURAL COUNCIL OF THE AFRICAN UNION in Accra, Ghana. The award was presented by the African Citizens’ Forum of the AU Economic, Social and Cultural Council in recognition of his commitment to justice and integrity. Akere Muna is widely known for his fight against corruption, illicit financial flows and resource management.
He is currently involved in dismantling the corruption network linked to Glencore, which is involved in the control of natural resources in several countries, particularly in Africa and Latin America. In Ghana, Akere Muna participated in discussions at the African Citizens’ Forum, which focused on a coordinated and coherent African response to illicit financial flows, corruption and the management of natural resources.
