This was the outcome of the 51st ordinary meeting of the Board of Directors of the company in charge of operating the public service of production, transport and distribution of drinking water.
The Board of Directors of the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation (Camwater) examined last July 23 the financial statements and took note of the auditor’s reports for the 2022 financial year. After reviewing the general state of the company’s fixed assets and depreciation, the Board approved the measures taken by the general management. The financial results show a net loss after tax of FCFA 9,402,888,059.
Although this figure remains negative, it is an improvement on the previous year, which recorded an increase of FCFA 1,717,853,826.
While still negative, this financial result reflects the efforts made by the company to get back on the road to recovery. Transparency and rigour in the presentation of the financial statements were particularly emphasised by the Board, demonstrating Camwater’s commitment to balanced and sustainable financial management. The Board congratulated management on the clarity of the documentation provided to it and on the quality and relevance of the strategic orientations and decisions that have led to the positive developments observed.
The Board also encouraged management to continue its efforts to improve financial and accounting management and to achieve the Government’s main objective of providing potable water to urban and peri-urban areas,’ reads the final communiqué.
