Russia: Grain Deliveries To Africa Have Begun
Free deliveries of Russian grain to a number of African countries have begun. This was announced by the Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, at the Primakov Lectures Forum. Health: Plea Of The Fulani Community Of Bamenda
Health services adapted to their needs, customs and beliefs are the demand of the Fulani community of Bamenda. On November 15, 2002, a group of five Fulani leaders, including the Imam of the Central Mosque of Bamenda, the Sarkhi of the old town and staff, arrived at the offices of the North West Regional Delegation of Public Health to ask for special attention and health services for the Fulani community. Fulani community is considered as a special people who have wise health care. They live mainly in the popular area called the Old Town in the Ntambag health zone of the Bamenda health district. The Ntambag health centre has a population of 18,353. It is still housed in a rented building that does not meet the required norms and standards and has outdated medical equipment.

Solution seekers organised an international scientific conference held in Yaoundé on the practical approach to adapting cocoa and coffee cultivation to climate change. The conference, which began on June 7 and ends on June 8, is organized by the Interprofessional Council of Cocoa and Coffee (CICC) in partnership with the Cameroonian government.

As from next week, students will be storming the amphitheatres for the National Higher National Diploma (HND) assessment. This year, 11,000 candidates are expected to take part.
Prior to this, French-speaking students have been facing the written tests for the Brevet de technicien supérieur (BTS) since last Monday, more than a month after the practical tests. There are around 8,600 candidates in the Centre region, divided into four examination centres. The exam ends next Saturday.

As part of the festivities, students were invited to an inaugural lecture by the Regional Communication Delegate for the West region, Dr Étienne Tayou Demanou, on the theme of “communication as a tool in the fight against corruption”. The lecture was given in the presence of the coordinator of the communication programme, Professor Léopold Jumbo, and lecturers and students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. During his talk, Dr Étienne Tayou Demanou emphasised the use of communication to promote development and consolidate democracy and governance. He also dwelt on the consequences of corruption as a brake on economic growth.

According to sources close to the matter, the country reduced the target from CFAF200 billion to 100 billion. Among other reasons, the country is struggling to obtain an attractive underwriting contract from the five arrangers of the operation, namely Financia Capital and the brokerage firms Afriland Bourse & Investissement, Attijari Securities Central Africa, Société Générale Capital Securities Central Africa, and Upline Securities Central Africa.

Over 1,000 patients supported by the “Healthy Aging with HIV” initiative since 2021
Updated information on the activities of the “Healthy Aging with HIV” (VIHeillir) initiative in Cameroon has been released. The program has registered a total of 1,236 individuals from the target population since its launch in June 2021, we learned.
Expertise France, the organization backing the initiative, explains that VIHeillir aims to “enhance the health of people aged 50 and above living with HIV by incorporating the management of five priority comorbidities during regular visits”. These comorbidities include diabetes, high blood pressure, precancerous cervical lesions in women, as well as hepatitis B and C.

Cameroon: govt to boost agricultural financing over the next 5 years
The Cameroonian government, through its National Strategy for Inclusive Finance (SNFI), announced the disbursement of CFA10.5 billion to boost agricultural financing in the country over the next five years.
“Since farmers’ needs are specific and particular, they require tailored financial services instead of conventional banking services,” the SNFI explained. Part of the money will come from the Public Investment Budget (BIP) and the remainder will be raised from development partners .
