The Republic of Cameroon has entered a strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea to implement a high-tech emergency medical system designed to drastically reduce mortality rates.

The Minister of Public Health, Dr. MANAOUDA Malachie, met with his South Korean counterpart, Dr. Jeong Eun-kyeong, in Seoul this Friday March 27 to solidify bilateral health cooperation.

The focus of their discussions was the CURY 2 project, an ambitious initiative aimed at establishing a modern, integrated emergency medical service across Cameroon. This structural project represents a significant shift toward a more proactive healthcare model, ensuring that critical cases receive rapid and efficient interventions.

During the high-level session, South Korea reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting Cameroon’s transformational goals. Dr. Jeong Eun-kyeong emphasized that her country is ready to provide the technical expertise and resources necessary for the effective rollout of CURY 2.

The atmosphere of mutual trust underscored a shared vision of leveraging South Korean medical innovation to address the specific healthcare challenges currently prevailing within the Cameroonian population.

A key highlight of the meeting was the Cameroonian delegation’s request for the integration of an automated laboratory within the CURY 2 framework. This advanced diagnostic tool is expected to be a game-changer for the emergency system, allowing for near-instantaneous test results and more accurate medical responses.

The South Korean health minister responded with immediate action, instructing her technical teams to begin urgent consultations with Cameroonian experts to finalize the laboratory’s specifications.

This diplomatic mission marks a decisive milestone in Cameroon’s broader strategy to align its health sector with international best practices. By focusing on innovation and performance, the partnership seeks to build a resilient system capable of safeguarding human lives during golden-hour emergencies.

The mission led by Dr. MANAOUDA Malachie highlights the government’s dedication to securing high-impact foreign investments that translate into tangible improvements in public health.
As the technical teams move into the consultation phase, the “Health Diplomacy” between Yaoundé and Seoul sets a new standard for bilateral cooperation in Central Africa.

Through the successful implementation of CURY 2 and the proposed automated laboratory, Cameroon is positioned to become a regional leader in emergency medical efficiency. This collaboration not only modernizes infrastructure but also fosters a sustainable transfer of technology and knowledge that will benefit the nation for decades to come.
