It is a historic day at the National Assembly this March 17, 2026, Cameron’s lawmaking institution. Honorable  Datouo Theodore will henceforth be addressed as the Right Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly.

This is thanks to an election process held at the lower house of parliament where he grabbed a total of 133 of the 147 votes cast with 14 null ballot papers counted, granting him a 90.4% vote.

He takes over from Cavaye Yeguie Djibril who had been at this position for 34 years.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected speaker expressed profound gratitude to the head of states, President Paul Biya, chairman of the CPDM party for finding him worthy to take off the huge task of the number one personality of the National Assembly and third personality of the nation.

He is MP From Upper Plateau in the West Region.
