The communities of Mbat Juy, Mbat, and Manang in the Donga-Mantung division if the North West Region are currently battling with the devastating aftermath of recent displacements.
The situation is nothing short of heartbreaking, as more than 200 homes were razed to the ground, leaving families stripped of their belongings and their sense of security. Amidst this destruction, vulnerable boys and girls have found themselves in a state of deep uncertainty, facing the harsh reality of having nothing left but the clothes on their backs.
In a powerful display of commitment this day, the Ready-to-Respond team from Plan International’s Bamenda office braved high-risk security constraints and incredibly challenging terrain to reach out to the needy in these remote areas.
Their arrival in Nwa sub division marked a turning point for many young survivors who had been waiting for a sign that they had not been forgotten. Despite the logistical hurdles, the team’s presence served as a vital lifeline, proving that humanitarian solidarity can pierce through even the most difficult circumstances.
The intervention focused on restoring basic human dignity to children who have been traumatized by the loss of their homes. Plan International provided essential dignity kits and hygiene supplies such as blankets, mats, buckets and essentials —items that are often overlooked but are critical for the health and self-esteem of young survivors.

These small yet significant packages offer more than just physical relief; they provide a sense of comfort and care, helping children regain a level of normalcy and personal agency in the wake of such a violent disruption to their lives.
Ultimately, the mission to Nwa highlights the incredible resilience of the affected communities and the unwavering bravery of frontline humanitarian workers. While the destruction of over 200 homes is a tragedy, the successful delivery of aid is a reminder that humanity always rises in the face of adversity.
By standing with the children of Donga-Mantung, Plan International is not just providing supplies; it is reinforcing the idea that even in the most isolated regions, solidarity will always find a way to reach and restore dignity to those who need it most.
