To support the vulnerable during the holy month of Ramadan, the Mayor of the Yaounde II City Council Yannick Ayissi in his usual generosity has distributed food kits to the Muslim community.
This social intervention was done on March 15, 2026 during a ceremony that took place in his area of influence. The ceremony, that centered on the themes of solidarity and fraternity, was designed to support the faithful during this month of fasting, prayer, and sharing. By providing these essential resources, the municipality aimed to ensure that worshippers can experience this sacred period with greater peace and security.
The distributed kits consisted primarily of essential food items intended to alleviate the daily needs of the community. Recipients included imams from various mosques across the district, presidents of local associations, heads of Quranic schools, and members of the Ekoudou group.
This wide-reaching distribution ensures that the support filters down to the most active and vital segments of the religious community during the month-long observance. Recipients and religious leaders expressed profound gratitude for the Mayor’s initiative, highlighting its practical impact on the vulnerable.
Fatimatou Gali, president of the Association of Widows and Orphans, noted that the aid is a significant source of relief that will allow widows and children to break their fast in better conditions. Additionally, Imam Aboubacar offered prayers for the Mayor, commending the act of generosity and the strong bond of solidarity it fosters with the Muslim community.
In his address during the ceremony, Mayor Yannick Ayissi reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to supporting citizens during important spiritual milestones. He emphasized that the initiative is more than just a donation; it is a vital act of social cohesion intended to strengthen the community spirit within the district.
Through this annual action, the Yaounde II council continues to demonstrate its dedication to fostering harmony and mutual support among all its residents.
