The Minister of External Relations, H.E. Lejeune MBELLA MBELLA has officially received the premises provided by the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) to his ministry on February 18, 2026 at the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport.

Located within the Emergency Operations Center (CDOU) building at the Airport, the move is part of a sustained effort to modernize consular services and improve the reception of foreign guests across Cameroon’s airport platforms.

The solemn ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest MASSENA NGALLE BIBEHE, the Director General of the CCAA, Mrs. Paule AVOMO ASSOUMOU KOKI, and numerous stakeholders from the Yaoundé-Nsimalen airport community.

The event marks the culmination of a process initiated in 2021 between MINREX and the CCAA to provide dedicated facilities for diplomatic activities within the CDOU building. As is standard in major international airports, this newly designed space provides high-standing lounges for the reception of high-ranking personalities and dignitaries visiting or on transit. The facility includes a hall, two offices, two reception lounges, a kitchen, and restrooms, all put together to ensure optimal conditions from the moment guests arrive on Cameroonian soil.

The objective of this initiative is twofold: to strengthen Cameroon’s diplomatic image and to facilitate the flawless reception of special envoys, heads of diplomatic missions, ministers, and representatives of international institutions.

The edifice equally serves as a guarantee of compliance with international obligations regarding diplomatic privileges and immunities, in accordance with the Vienna Conventions. Beyond diplomatic prestige, this arrangement offers operational benefits for all actors at the Nsimalen airport platform.

Specifically, it allows for the sharing of MINREX’s expertise in managing diplomatic privileges and ensures fluid coordination between protocol and airport services. All these measures are testaments to a better reception experience and a positive international image for Cameroon.

MINREX took the opportunity to highlight the ongoing modernization of consular services, notably the implementation of the eVisa system at the Douala and Yaoundé airports, with plans for its extension to other airports in the near future.
