The head of Sudan’s military junta Abdell Fattal al-Burhan is in the Chadian capital Ndjamena to engineer closer ties with its neighbour, officials in Khartoum said.al-Burhan flew to Chad on Sunday and will hold talks with his Chadian counterpart Mahamat Idriss Déby.

The talks will revolve around implementing a bilateral agreement reached between the two countries in 2018.

The talks will also cover security along their common border where inter-ethnic violence had flared up in recent months. 

Officials on both sides say a joint military force will be set up to patrol their shared border and that of the Central African Republic where armed militias have been active in the recent weeks.

They will also deal with the smuggling of weapons.
