With the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization – WTO just two months away, the Cameroon government is heightening preparations ahead of this grand event.

The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Joseph Dion Ngute, conducted an inspection visit yesterday, January 20, 2026, of the primary infrastructure designed to host this major international event, scheduled to take place from March 26 to 29, 2026, in Cameroon.

The Head of Government was accompanied by the Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana; the Minister of Communication, René Emmanuel Sadi; and the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Gabriel Mbairobe. This field visit is part of a rigorous monitoring process for the preparations of a landmark event that will bring together more than 4,000 delegates from 166 countries.

The on-site inspection visit began at the Mont Fébé hotel, which is one of the primary lodging sites for the delegations. The Prime Minister assessed the progress of the work carried out in accordance with WTO specifications. While noting with satisfaction the accelerated pace of the contracted companies, he instructed a doubling of the work rate to avoid any last-minute performance issues and to guarantee strict compliance with the international standards required for an event of this magnitude.

The delegation then proceeded to the Yaoundé Conference Center, where all the proceedings of the Ministerial Conference will be held. The Prime Minister conducted a meticulous inspection of the technical and logistical facilities, emphasizing the necessity for perfect functionality within the spaces intended for both ministerial sessions and side meetings.

In view of the WTO evaluation mission scheduled for February 2, 2026, the Head of Government announced that he will personally conduct another site visit a few days prior to the evaluation meeting. This is to ensure that all commitments are effectively met and that Cameroon is fully prepared to welcome the international trade community.
