The Fiber Optic Association – FOA, a globally recognized authority in fiber optic certification, has officially issued a letter of recognition to Judith Yah Sunday Achidi, the Director General of CAMTEL.
This international honor highlights her visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to elevating Cameroon’s telecommunications infrastructure. The acknowledgment directly follows CAMTEL’s successful initiative to train and certify 130 local technicians as Certified Fiber Optic Technicians – CFOT, marking a major milestone for the national telecom provider on the global stage.
This strategic training initiative is designed to significantly strengthen local expertise, driving the acceleration of fiber optic deployment and faster Fiber-to-the-Home – FTTH connections across the country.
By aligning network installations with strict international standards, the newly certified workforce will directly improve day-to-day network operations and maintenance. Ultimately, this investment in human capital aims to substantially enhance the end-user customer experience, ensuring more reliable, high-speed connectivity for homes and businesses alike.
By fostering a highly skilled local workforce, CAMTEL is actively accelerating the digital transformation of Cameroon and promoting home-grown engineering excellence. This international recognition from the FOA confirms a powerful, long-term ambition championed by leadership: to build a world-class, high-quality network that delivers seamless, premium digital services.
Through these modernized capabilities, CAMTEL continues to solidify its position as the bedrock of Cameroon’s emerging digital economy.
