From September 14 to 19, 2026, fifty drivers were selected and organized into three cohorts to complete an intensive training program designed to deliver a superior airport and urban transport experience.
Initiated ahead of a major launch in modern mobility, the program tested and refined the skills of participants across both theoretical and practical domains. Following the rigorous evaluation, every qualified driver formally signed an employment contract with Frédéric Nono, the founder of TAXIGO.
The initial group of 13 drivers undertook three 48-hour sessions which focused on high-standards passenger service between the Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport and the capital city. The structured curriculum combined six theoretical modules with hands-on field application to ensure complete professional readiness. Sponsored through investments by ADC SA and ALO TECHNOLOGIES, the initiative prioritizes operational safety, professional rigor, and customer care to transform the regional transit landscape.
The theoretical curriculum opened with foundational instruction on the regulatory framework, legal responsibilities, and key road signage, alongside strategies for managing driver distractions and mitigating risk factors. Drivers were then introduced to defensive driving principles, centered on the proven Smith System methodology, to instill proactive habits behind the wheel. These core safety concepts laid the groundwork for specialized technical modules tailored specifically to modern transport requirements.
To highlight the technological upgrade of the TAXIGO fleet over traditional airport taxis, a key module focused on the architecture, transmission, and safety features of 4×4 (4WD) vehicles. Additional instruction addressed essential airport security protocols and proper baggage handling techniques. The theoretical phase concluded with a module dedicated to professional presentation, posture, and customer relations, reinforcing the importance of maintaining an exemplary demeanor throughout every journey.
Transitioning to practical workshops, drivers participated in field exercises designed to build strong operational habits, beginning with pre-trip vehicle safety inspections (Circle Checks). Instructors guided participants through proper seating posture, optimal mirror adjustments, and precision vehicle maneuvering. The final workshop provided hands-on practice in operating four-wheel-drive modes and applying off-road driving techniques across diverse conditions.
The training concluded with driver feedback celebrating the program’s success, with one participant noting that it effectively reinvented the role of a professional driver. Through strategic investments in driver education, TAXIGO and its partners aim to set a new benchmark for safety, reliability, and passenger comfort in Cameroonian airport transport.
