In a historic first for Bokwoango village, His Royal Majesty Chief Njie Mbonde Albert decorated a total of 26 individuals as pioneer Notables, including the Mayor of Limbe I, Mbwaye Eposi Florence, and the Governor of the West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine.
The ceremony, which drew administrative and religious leaders from across the subdivision, was a way of strengthening the unity of the Bakweri clan. The Chief emphasized that these titles were awarded based on dedication and community commitment rather than wealth. This award marked a new era of shared responsibility under his leadership.
During the ceremony, the traditional ruler called for collective action to address the village’s urgent development needs, specifically highlighting access to water, education, and electricity.
He urged the estimated 10,000 residents to embrace peaceful coexistence and the spirit of “living together” championed by the Head of State. To reinforce this community-driven approach, the ceremony was crowned with the distribution of work tools to quarter heads, aimed at promoting local hygiene with plans of rewarding the cleanest neighborhoods at the end of the year.
After installation, the Notables expressed their commitment to using their influence for the growth and progress of their community. Mayor Mbwaye Eposi Florence, tasked with overseeing education, pledged to improve learning conditions and assist children in obtaining essential birth certificates. Similarly, Governor Awa Fonka Augustine reflected on the honor as a chance to give back to the community that shaped his childhood. Their combined expertise is expected to transform Membea-Bokwoango through targeted social and infrastructural improvements.
