The institution has taken a significant step towards promoting academic integrity by introducing a new plagiarism detection software. This software will be used to systematically screen all Master’s theses before candidates are authorized to defend their work.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Christian Tsala Tsala, confirmed that the measure is aimed at ensuring the originality and quality of research conducted within the institution. “This initiative is designed to foster academic integrity within our institution,” he stated.

With this new policy, Bertoua University joins the University of Yaoundé II-Soa, which pioneered the use of plagiarism detection software for Master’s and doctoral theses in 2021. The move has been widely welcomed by academic circles, who see it as a crucial step in preserving the authenticity of research and promoting a genuine scientific culture.

The new policy at Bertoua University aims to eradicate plagiarism, promote authentic research, and strengthen academic ethics. By implementing this software, the university is setting a strong example for other higher education institutions in Cameroon and beyond, demonstrating a commitment to rigorous and ethical education.
