As part of the festivities to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD), the most enterprising underprivileged woman in the South West Region will be awarded an envelope of one million CFA francs. This will be done through a competition to be held at the region’s headquarter, Buea.
Organised by the regional delegation of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Family, the contest partners the private company dubbed Boissons du Cameroun. According to the organisers, the aim of the event is to promote hard work among women, especially the underprivileged ones. The announcement of the competition was made during the launching ceremony of the IWD activities at the beginning of the week. It saw a march past at the Buea Independence Square where women held placards calling for gender equality… This year’s International Women’s Day theme is : “Invest in Women: Accelerate progress”.
