Cameroon Telecommunications – CAMTEL has taken a historic step toward honoring its technological heritage by launching a landmark exhibition of its telecommunications patrimony at the corporation’s headquarters in Yaounde.

The grand opening that took place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, brought together top leadership, including Board Chairman Mohamadou Saoudi and the President of the General Assembly of Camtel, Ngolle Isaac Richard. This significant event marks the official beginning of an ambitious cultural project: the establishment of Cameroon’s first-ever Telecommunications Museum.

During the launch, Camtel’s General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, noted that the initiative aims to trace, memorize, document, and transmit the country’s telecom evolution, emphasizing that a company without a history has no soul.

A key highlight of the launch featured an immersive presentation by Camtel’s Technical Inspector No. 2, Abbo Bello, who guided attendees through the company’s historical timeline. The detailed presentation illustrated the dramatic shifts in infrastructure, technical equipment, and consumer usage over the decades. Following the presentation, dignitaries and visitors toured various public exhibition stands. These displays allow the public to discover firsthand how drastically communication technology has evolved in Cameroon, transforming from rudimentary setups into the modern digital age.

The memorial exhibition serves a dual purpose for Camtel’s leadership, functioning as both a celebration of past achievements and a reflection on the company’s future roadmap. Crucially, the initiative sends a powerful message to the company’s younger generation of professionals. The General Manager paid tribute to the pioneering stakeholders and past leaders who laid the foundation of the corporation, emphasizing that younger personnel are not merely employees, but the foundational pillars driving a continuous national vision. She asserted that Camtel will not rest until the entire nation is fully connected.

While the museum project focuses heavily on safeguarding a rich historical legacy, Camtel’s ultimate objective remains resolutely forward-looking. The telecom giant is actively leveraging its history to fuel its next giant leap: pioneering the deployment of the 5G network across the country. By anchoring its future expansion in a deep understanding of its roots, the company aims to maintain its edge in a highly competitive digital landscape.

Through this unique blend of historical preservation and cutting-edge innovation, Camtel aims to fulfill its core mandate of driving national development. The ongoing exhibition and upcoming museum stand as physical testaments to Cameroon’s digital journey. Ultimately, the corporation is positioning itself to bridge generational gaps while working to open Cameroon to the world and bring the world closer to Cameroon.
