Access Bank Cameroon has officially launched Access Invest, a fully digital platform designed to buy and sell government securities across the six-member Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa – CEMAC.
Unveiled on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the bank’s headquarters in Douala, the initiative aims to democratize access to capital markets traditionally dominated by high-net-worth individuals and large institutional players.
The platform targets a broad spectrum of investors, ranging from individual savers and small-and-medium enterprises – SMEs to corporate institutions. Through a streamlined digital interface, users can access short-term Treasury Bills – BTA, Treasury Bonds, and long-term Treasury Obligations – OTA issued by CEMAC member nations, including Cameroon, Gabon, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, and Chad.
By opening up the secondary market for government securities through a digital channel, Access Invest modernizes a system that previously relied heavily on manual processes. The platform provides real-time visibility and enhanced liquidity, allowing retail and institutional investors alike to monitor opportunities and trade government debt instruments with unprecedented ease and transparency.
Speaking at the launch press conference, Ugochukwu Irechukwu, Deputy Managing Director of Access Bank Cameroon, emphasized that the initiative extends financial solutions beyond conventional banking channels. Under the banner “your money has a future,” the platform combines trading capabilities with educational resources, investment simulators, and personalized guidance to help ordinary citizens save, invest, and build long-term wealth for retirement or education.
Addressing capital constraints, Head of Treasury Jean Petnga highlighted the platform’s role in financial intermediation and market development. Access Bank Cameroon plans to provide liquidity support and structured credit products, particularly for salaried workers and public sector employees, enabling investors who lack initial upfront capital to participate in the regional money market.
The bank is rolling out Access Invest progressively, granting initial access to existing bank clients before expanding to the broader public via a low-barrier digital onboarding process. Moving forward, Access Bank Cameroon plans to collaborate with regional regulatory bodies, stock exchanges, and fintech providers to continuously enhance the platform’s features while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
