The announcement was made by the Sultan-King of the Bamoun, Mouhammad-Nabil Mforifoum Mbombo Njoya, in the ceremonial courtyard of the Palace of the Bamoun Kings in Foumban. This was during the Bamoun community’s celebration of the inscription of the Nguon, rituals of governance and related expressions in the Bamoun community on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Mouhammad-Nabil Mforifoum Mbombo Njoya expressed the gratitude of the Bamoun people to the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, for the institutional support given to the Nguon file.
