The diplomatic institution has promised to support the government in its fight against the jihadist group.

For almost a decade, the population of the Far North region has been the victim of attacks by the terrorist group Boko Haram. In addition to the loss of life, many schools, homes, hospitals and livestock have been destroyed.

A situation that caught the attention of the German Ambassador to Cameroon, Dr Corinna Fricke. This was during her three-day working mission in the region. She was accompanied by the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Cameroon, Aissata De. They had a meeting with the Governor of the Far North Region, Midjiyawa Bakari to discuss the situation rocking the Far North and strategies to address it and help the population.

A number of bikes were later on handed over to the public service, which is part of the UNDP’s Regional Stabilisation Facility in the Lake Tchad Basin. Dr Corinna Frickle and her delegation also paid a visit to some divisions of the region to meet other victims likely the Mayo Moskota and Mayo Tsanaga divisions. There, she visited rehabilitation social service infrastructures, wheat and onion plantations belonging to women victims of Boko Haram attacks.
