On November 25, 2024, the community of Douala VI kicked off the second edition of the “Journées Médicales des Douala” campaign, a health initiative aimed at providing free screenings for malaria, hepatitis B, and hypertension. This campaign targets residents in the insular areas of Manoka and Cap Cameroun.

The event was officially launched by Walter Anang Ndong Wallang, the Divisional officer of Douala VI, who emphasized the importance of proactive healthcare for the community. The screenings will offer residents the chance to receive testing for common yet critical health conditions, particularly those that are often neglected due to limited access to medical services.

In addition to the screenings, medical supplies including testing kits will be delivered to the health district of Manoka and the integrated health centre of Cap Cameroun. The programme is aimed at benefiting 300 individuals, with the event running until November 29, 2024.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Mayor of Douala, aims to improve the overall health and well-being of the population, particularly in remote and underserved areas. It represents a significant effort to combat common health issues in the region through prevention and early detection.

This campaign is part of ongoing efforts to expand healthcare access across Douala and ensure that more residents are aware of their health status.
