His Excellency Mounouna Foutsou, Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education – MINJEC, hosted an audience with Evariste Sindayigaya, Director of the Mano River Cluster of Plan International West and Central Africa.

The official meeting was focused on consolidating the cooperation between the Cameroonian government and Plan International Cameroon. Their joint efforts aim to advance youth empowerment, foster peace promotion, expand volunteering opportunities, and encourage civic engagement among young people.

The audience was also attended by members of the Youth Engagement Platform – PEJ, who expressed their appreciation to their host through creative expression. A key highlight of the event was a spoken word slam performed by young Ruth Tede. Delivering verses filled with hope, gratitude, and commitment, her performance centered on a powerful message of thanks that resonated strongly with the audience.

Following the youth presentations, the meeting concluded with a symbolic exchange of gifts between the young participants and the Minister. In his closing remarks, Minister Mounouna Foutsou urged the youth to represent Cameroon proudly and continue their civic involvement in service to the nation.

Furthermore, he charged them with advocating for the Cameroonian innovation known as the Citizenship Games across Central and West Africa—an initiative that rewards teams based on their embodiment of peace, justice, civism, and social cohesion rather than traditional athletic victory.

Reflecting on the future of the collaboration, Evariste Sindayigaya emphasized the need for deeper involvement to expand opportunities for young people. Referring to the Citizenship Games as a competition of core human values, he invited the Country Director to promote this model across African nations affected by conflict.

He highlighted the initiative as an effective, educational tool for reducing regional tensions, fostering social unity, and leveraging sport as a powerful mechanism for civic living.
