The Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallè Bibèhè, officially presided over the launch ceremony for the Cameroon Auto Expo 2026 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Hilton Hotel in Yaounde.
Attended by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Transport, key economic operators, and national and international journalists, the ceremony marked the debut of the region’s premier international trade fair dedicated to automobiles, mobility, and transportation. Scheduled to take place in Douala from October 17 to 24, 2026, the event aims to position Cameroon as a regional hub for transit innovation and sector investment.
Organized by specialized communication and event management agencies Maraboo and Kanao under the slogan “Building the Future of Mobility Together,” the expo seeks to unify the entire transportation ecosystem across Cameroon and the broader Central African sub-region.
Yolande Bodiong, co-promoter of the fair, emphasized that transportation directly impacts every citizen’s daily life and serves as a vital economic engine. By leveraging Cameroon’s economic appeal, the initiative creates an essential platform for dialogue, strategic networking, and technological advancements to optimize the movement of people and goods.
During the launch, the event’s promoters expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Transport for its official endorsement and praised President Paul Biya for ongoing state efforts to modernize national infrastructure. The project aligns with government priorities to attract foreign direct investment and boost sub-regional trade connectivity. By convening public institutions, commercial enterprises, and technical partners, the expo establishes a structured framework to address pressing infrastructure and logistics challenges across Central Africa.
Minister Ngallè Bibèhè commended the organizers, highlighting the urgent need for collaborative spaces where government bodies, private businesses, researchers, and technical partners can work together to enhance transport efficiency. He reiterated the Cameroonian government’s firm commitment to modernizing transit networks and adapting to global sector innovations. The Minister emphasized that Cameroon intends to play a leading role in this sectoral evolution by actively supporting serious private-sector initiatives that drive performance and technological integration.
Concluding his address, the Minister called upon all transport and logistics stakeholders to actively participate in the upcoming October event and take full ownership of the project. He expressed strong optimism that the Cameroon Auto Expo will grow into an enduring, high-profile benchmark for the mobility sector across the continent.
