On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallé Bibehè, presided over the official commissioning ceremony of newly appointed officials within his ministerial department at the Palais des Congrès in Yaounde.
The high-profile event saw the attendance of key cabinet members, including the Minister of Social Affairs, the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Transport, alongside various transportation sector stakeholders.
The ceremony followed the formal reading of Prime Ministerial Decree No. 2026/01531/PM of August 12, 2026, and Ministerial Order No. 005 of August 13, 2026, both governing appointments across central and structural services. Newly designated directors and key leaders were presented to the audience before receiving strategic directives from the Minister outlining their core mandates.
In his keynote address, Minister Ngallé Bibehè urged the new leaders to uphold high ethical standards by promoting assiduity, punctuality, rapid file processing, integrity, and free public service delivery. He strongly condemned administrative inertia, information hoarding, insubordination, and corruption, emphasizing the sensitive and strategic nature of the ministry’s mission.
Department-specific directives were issued, instructing the Director of General Affairs to accelerate the head office construction project alongside the Division of Studies, Planning, Programming and Cooperation – DEPPCO, which was tasked with strengthening project maturity and securing funding partnerships. Additionally, directives targeted road safety reforms, maritime and inland waterway security, national meteorological early warning systems, administrative confidentiality, and ongoing railway and civil aviation modernizations.
The event also served as a venue for bestowing honorary decorations awarded for National Day (May 20, 2026). Prominent sector figures were recognized, including Fokou Nicodeme, CEO of Général Voyage, and Gilbert Kana Pondi, Deputy General Manager of CAMRAIL, who were both elevated to the rank of Grand Officer of the National Order of Valour.
Retired civil aviation engineer Medndouga Paul Alain was named Commander of the Order of Valour, while Ngock Pierre was appointed Knight of the National Order of Valour, alongside several other staff members receiving honors in the Cameroonian Order of Merit and for labor contributions.
Minister Ngallé Bibehè concluded by officially installing the officials, reassuring them of his continuous support while firmly reiterating that any breaches of ethics or administrative rules would result in appropriate corrective measures. The ceremony closed with a minute of silence observed in honor of victims of recent transport-related tragedies.
