The General Manager of Cameroon Telecommunications – CAMTEL, Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, hosted a high-level working session with Bertrand Mahoukou Bitchinda, General Manager of Gabon’s Digital Infrastructure Heritage Company – SPIN.

The bilateral meeting focused on strategic efforts to advance telecommunications infrastructure and deepen digital integration across Central Africa.

Central to their discussions was the CAB-CORRIDOR initiative, a regional project designed to expand and solidify terrestrial fiber-optic interconnections among Cameroon, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo.

Utilizing the Central African Backbone – CAB infrastructure, the partnership aims to maximize existing cross-border routes, boost regional data traffic within the CEMAC zone, and enhance overall network resilience across member states.

Following the signing of foundational agreements between the participating operators, both delegations outlined the immediate roadmap for the project. The next crucial phase involves finalizing the operational modalities and technical execution frameworks, which are scheduled for completion during October 2026.

This collaborative venture marks a significant step toward establishing a robust digital ecosystem in Central Africa. By interconnecting national backbones, CAMTEL and SPIN Gabon are laying the groundwork for improved internet access, reduced latency, and sustained economic growth through seamless cross-border communications.
