As part of her official working visit to the Fako Division, the National President of the Cameroon Red Cross – CRC, Cécile Akame Mfoumou, was received by the Fako Senior Divisional Officer in Limbe.
Their meeting focused primarily on assessing the damage caused by recent flooding in the city, evaluating the ongoing challenges faced by affected local communities, and reviewing the humanitarian relief measures being deployed.
Central to the discussions was the implementation of the 2026 Fako Floods Disaster Response Emergency Fund – DREF operation. President Akame Mfoumou detailed how the Red Cross is actively supporting relief efforts, mobilizing its resources to deliver targeted assistance and address the immediate survival and recovery needs of vulnerable households impacted by the natural disaster.

The strategic meeting highlighted the indispensable contribution of local CRC volunteers deployed directly within affected neighborhoods. These volunteers remain at the frontline of the response – delivering aid, raising public health and safety awareness, and collecting crucial community feedback to ensure that humanitarian assistance remains responsive and aligned with the actual needs on the ground.
Ultimately, the high-level engagement reaffirmed the necessity of seamless collaboration between the Cameroon Red Cross and regional administrative authorities.
By strengthening inter-agency coordination and communication, both parties aimed to streamline relief delivery, maximize the impact of intervention programs, and better safeguard vulnerable populations in Limbe.
