Staff members from Cameroon’s National Social Security Fund – CNPS recently participated in an International Social Security Association – ISSA webinar focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance workplace accident and occupational disease management.
The interactive session, titled “AI-Powered Workplace Accident Insurance – Interactive Demonstration,” showcased an innovative experiment from Weihai, a coastal city in eastern China, demonstrating how smart technologies can transform social security administration.
At the core of the presentation was the intelligent “6i” platform, developed by a Chinese local social insurance office and powered by the DeepSeek large language model alongside Retrieval-Augmented Generation – RAG technology.

Yabin He, Program Director at the International Cooperation Division of the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, presented practical case studies illustrating how AI streamlines case processing. The demonstration generated strong interest among CNPS representatives, prompting active discussions on building local knowledge bases and ensuring data security.
Cameroonian participants viewed the Chinese model as an inspiring benchmark for domestic service delivery. Merveille Bolo Assena from the IT Department noted that China’s integration of technology into social security opens promising avenues for CNPS as it seeks to adopt modern innovations. The interactive exchange allowed the delegation to benchmark cutting-edge international practices against their local operational environment.
However, experts at the session underscored that successful AI integration relies heavily on pre-existing digital infrastructure and standardized workflows. Henriette Ndjom Nack, an Industrial Safety, Quality, and Environmental Engineer at the Technical Directorate, emphasized that AI must be paired with structured risk management procedures to accelerate case processing, boost operational efficiency, and lower administrative costs associated with occupational health claims.
Ultimately, the webinar highlighted that digital maturity is an essential prerequisite before AI can be effectively deployed in risk management. As Cameroon continues its broader digital transformation agenda, the insights gained from the ISSA webinar provide CNPS with a valuable strategic framework for building the requisite digital foundation to support future AI-driven social security services.
