Many people were injured in the incident, which occurred last week in the early morning in the South West region headquarter.
It was around 4 a.m. last week when the shaking of the building was heard by many. A building that was still under construction when it collapsed. Speaking to the press, neighbours said that because it was still dark, they were not able to find out immediately what was going on. Six of the ten people injured in the incident were taken to the Buea Regional Hospital.
The only person who died in the incident, known as Eba Jannet, according to a surviving victim, was trapped in the rubble, which was entangled with electrical cables and water from a septic tank of the collapsed structure. It was difficult to rescue her because the people who came to help her first had to find a way to cut the power cable before they could reach her.
Her two children are among the survivors taken to hospital. Meanwhile, local and other law authorities have visited the site to assess the damage and launch an investigation.
