From July 21 to 24, 2026, top executives from the Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation – CAMWATER convened at the United Hotel in Yaoundé for a high-level national strategic workshop.
Chaired by Director General Dr. Blaise Moussa, the summit marks the official launch of a major governance dynamic intended to overhaul the company’s operational framework. Rather than a routine administrative gathering, the event was designed to establish a concrete, results-driven national roadmap aimed at sustainably improving public drinking water delivery across the country.
In his opening address, Dr. Blaise Moussa framed the workshop as a critical turning point for the utility corporation. Emphasizing that performance must be constructed, measured, and continuously refined, he urged senior managers to embrace a results-oriented culture in their daily operations.
The overarching objective of top management is to bridge the gap between significant state and partner investments and the actual quality of service experienced by Cameroonian households.
Central to this new operational direction are strict operational targets aimed at strengthening system efficiency. Priorities set during the workshop include expanding drinking water availability, slashing technical and commercial losses, minimizing non-revenue water, and streamlining billing and collection processes.
To achieve these targets, CAMWATER is rolling out a national performance management system that pairs contractual objectives with transparent monitoring and regular managerial evaluations.
The four-day conference is scheduled to conclude with the adoption of two foundational governance documents: the Yaoundé Declaration on Performance and the CAMWATER Manager’s Charter. These instruments are designed to enforce a strict culture of accountability, integrity, and innovation across every level of the organization. By codifying these standards, executive leadership aims to foster long-term structural excellence that relies as much on human capital as on physical infrastructure.
Closing his address with a call to action, Dr. Blaise Moussa reminded participants that the future of CAMWATER hinges on modern, transparent leadership. By aligning internal practices with modern public sector governance, CAMWATER aims to establish itself as a benchmark utility provider in Africa, rebuilding public trust and directly enhancing the quality of life for the people of Cameroon.
