The President of the North-West Regional Executive Council, Prof. Fru Angwafo III, joined leaders from across Cameroon on July 29, 2026 for the second steering committee meeting of the Smart Classrooms Project.
Held to advance a pivotal national initiative aimed at modernizing secondary education through digital technology, the meeting highlighted the growing momentum behind regional educational transformation.
Chaired by FEICOM General Manager and Steering Committee Chairman Philippe Camille Akoa, the high-level gathering brought together key stakeholders from national and international organizations. Delegates from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Promethean, and the Ministry of Secondary Education joined representatives from the five participating beneficiary regions: Adamawa, North-West, West, South-West, and South.
During the sessions, committee members systematically evaluated the progress achieved since their inaugural assembly. The discussions focused on reviewing regional readiness for funding and physical deployment, alongside finalizing operational roadmaps, institutional governance structures, classroom preparation guidelines, and sustainable financing mechanisms.
For the North-West Region, this initiative marks a transformative shift toward expanding access to modern digital tools in secondary schools. By integrating technology into daily instruction, the project aims to elevate teaching standards, enhance digital literacy among students and educators, and equip young people with the essential skills required for higher education and the modern workforce.
Reaffirming the full support of the North-West Regional Assembly, Prof. Fru Angwafo III emphasized the council’s dedication to working alongside national institutions and international partners.
As deployment draws closer, the Smart Classrooms Project stands to accelerate educational recovery, bridge the regional digital divide, and unlock brighter opportunities for communities throughout the North-West.
