The city of Baham hosted a Gala Day on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in honor of the President of the National Assembly, Right Honorable Théodore Datouo.
Centered on unity, solidarity, and regional development, the celebration brought local populations together around activities celebrating the youth and cultural heritage of the Hauts-Plateaux division.
Key highlights of the event included the finals of the 18th edition of the “Théodore Datouo” handball and football championships, alongside a traditional dance competition. In the sports finals, Bangam defeated Baham 24–20 in handball, while Bameka FC claimed victory over Bamenjou FC with a 4–2 score in football, with participating dance groups also receiving various awards.

The official ceremony drew numerous administrative, political, traditional, and civil society figures, with the Governor of the West Region represented by the Secretary General of the Governor’s Services, Mr. Adrey Epente Tazeu.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Organizing Committee, Prof. Isaac Tamba, emphasized the fraternal and unifying spirit of the gathering. He urged the youth of Hauts-Plateaux to actively contribute to the department’s growth through hard work, creativity, and innovation.
Direct support was extended to vulnerable community members during the event, including the distribution of nearly 250 protective kits to motorcycle taxi drivers. Additionally, 300 school kits were distributed to internally displaced students and members of the Mbororo community to support their education.

As part of a Special Grant from the President of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Théodore Datouo personally presented 1 million FCFA to each of the leaders of nine financially fragile educational institutions, strengthening schools across all nine chieftaincies of Hauts-Plateaux. In total, the donations and financial assistance provided amounted to over 25 million FCFA. The day concluded with the presentation of trophies and honors in an atmosphere of warmth, brotherhood, and solidarity.
