The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, oversaw the reception of a major humanitarian donation from the Chinese government on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Douala-Bonabéri Port Container Terminal.
The shipment of rice and wheat was further augmented by relief supplies provided by the Presidential Couple, which included vegetable oil, canned food, soap, buckets, and other essential items. Speaking at the official reception ceremony, Minister Atanga Nji announced that approximately 120 loaded and heavily escorted trucks will immediately transport the assistance across multiple regions to reach populations in need.
The planned distribution strategically targets areas facing acute humanitarian pressures, with specific focus placed on the Southwest, Northwest, East, Adamawa, and Far North Regions. Under the dispatch plan, 20 trucks are destined for the Southwest region, 40 for the Northwest region, and roughly 67 trucks are allocated to regional centers including Bertoua, Maroua, and Ngaoundéré.
The Minister underscored that while all ten regions face ongoing challenges, targeted priority is being directed to the 31 subdivisions of the Southwest and 34 subdivisions of the Northwest, which remain particularly vulnerable.
Highlighting the diplomatic foundation of the initiative, Minister Atanga Nji praised the robust and enduring cooperation between Cameroon and China, extending formal gratitude to the Chinese government for its steadfast solidarity.
He equally commended President Paul Biya’s strategic leadership in cementing bilateral ties, noting that the Head of State’s nine official visits to China have been instrumental in building a resilient partnership capable of delivering direct relief to Cameroonian communities.
The high-profile ceremony at the port terminal was attended by senior regional and maritime authorities, reflecting the administrative scope of the logistics operation. Among the dignitaries accompanying the Minister were the Governor of the Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, and the Director General of the Régie du Terminal à Conteneurs – RTC, Lin Dieudonné Onana Ndoh.
The joint operation highlights the government’s coordinated effort to mobilize international aid alongside national resources to cushion vulnerable populations.
