Cameroon’s National Communication Council – NCC has suspended private television channel Vision 4 for one month following its 48th extraordinary session held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The regulatory decision stems from an contentious news report broadcast during the 8:00 PM news bulletin on June 2, 2026, which was deemed abusive toward Barrister Félicité Esther Ziefman of the Cameroon Bar Association.

Following that initial broadcast, the media watchdog had suspended journalist Martial Owona for three months and issued a formal warning to Boney Philippe, the Director General of Media at L’Anecdote Group.

Three months later, the regulatory body cracked down on the network after citing non-compliance with its previous sanctions and addressing dismissive remarks made during a live broadcast.

Specifically, the NCC highlighted comments made on the August 30 edition of the talk show “Club d’Élite,” where Boney Philippe allegedly stated on air that the outlet “could not care less about the NCC.” Additionally, the regulator noted that management failed to appear when summoned to address the continuous violations and defiance.

In response to the non-compliance and public pushback, the council escalated penalties against both key figures and the network itself. Beside the month-long off-air suspension slapped on Vision 4, Boney Philippe has been suspended from practicing journalism for one month. Meanwhile, journalist Martial Owona saw his original suspension doubled from three months to six months.
