Five newly promoted general officers officially received their attributes in a solemn ceremony held at the Headquarters Brigade – BQG courtyard.

Promoted by the Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Paul Biya, the newly appointed generals stepped into their prestigious ranks alongside the official installation of the Commander of the First Inter-Army Military Region – RMIA 1 and the Commander of the BQG.

Despite the heavy downpour that occurred the whole morning, the gravity of the event remained undiminished. Far from dampening the spirits of the troops, the downpour was welcomed according to African tradition as a sign of blessing and strength. Stoic and unflinching under the elements, the newly promoted officers maintained an irreproachable posture throughout the proceedings.

Presided over by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defense – MINDEF, Mr. Joseph Beti Assomo, the ceremony brought together a distinguished gathering of high-ranking civilian, military, and diplomatic personalities.

The ceremonial protocol commenced with the consecutive reading of three presidential decrees by the Senior Captain and Head of the Communication Division. The decrees formally appointed the new Commander of the First Inter-Army Military Region, the new Commander of the Headquarters Brigade, and elevated five Colonels, one from the National Gendarmerie and four from the Land Army, to the rank of Brigadier General.

In his address, the Defense Minister highlighted the strategic significance of these promotions, emphasizing that they recognize a career of excellence while initiating a heightened level of responsibility to meet ongoing security challenges. The ceremony concluded with a grand military parade, featuring an impressive musical drill by the Main Military Band, and the traditional group photograph.
