New in-app feature gives partner drivers greater confidence by highlighting passengers with completed profiles before accepting a ride
Douala, Cameroon, July 7th 2026, Yango Ride, part of the global tech company Yango Group, has introduced a new Passenger Profile Badge in Cameroon, an in-app feature designed to strengthen trust between partner drivers and passengers by making completed passenger profiles visible before a ride is accepted.
The new badge appears when a passenger has completed their Yango profile by providing key account information, including their full name, selfie and other account verification information where applicable. By making profile completion visible to partner drivers before they accept a trip, the feature helps foster greater transparency and trust across the platform.
Strengthening trust before every ride
In Cameroon, where partner drivers often rely on limited information when deciding whether to accept a ride request, particularly during late hours or in unfamiliar neighbourhoods, the Passenger Profile Badge provides an additional layer of confidence by confirming that a passenger has completed their profile. While it does not replace existing safety measures, it offers another trusted signal before a trip begins.
During early global testing of the feature, internal driver surveys showed that partner drivers were up to 40% more likely to report feeling confident accepting ride requests from passengers with completed profiles, particularly during night-time trips or in situations requiring additional caution. While these findings come from global pilot testing, they reinforce the value of introducing additional trust signals for partner drivers in markets such as Cameroon, where confidence at the point of ride acceptance remains an important part of the overall ride experience.
